Dr. Kari Williams, President, Industry Member
Dr. Kari Williams of Los Angeles has been reappointed to the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology. She has served on the Board since 2013. Dr. Williams has been the owner at Mahogany Hair Revolution Salon and Trichology Clinic since 2007 and was a hair stylist at Eclectic Salon from 2006 to 2007. Dr. Williams earned a Doctor of Philosophy degree in trichology from the Elan Center for Trichology and a Master of Arts degree in anatomical and nutritional study from the International Institute of Trichology. Her term expires: 1/1/2021.
Andrew Drabkin, Vice President, Public Member
Andrew Drabkin of Sacramento was been reappointed to the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology. He has served on the Board since 2013. Mr. Drabkin has been a database analyst for SEIU United Healthcare Workers since 2015. He was director of information technology for the California Democratic Party from 2010 to 2014, where he was deputy director of information technology from 2006 to 2010. Mr. Drabkin was staff at Phil Giarrizzo Campaign Consultants from 1999 to 2006. His term expires: 1/1/2021.
Bobbie Anderson, Public Member
Ms. Anderson was appointed by Governor Jerry Brown in October 2012. She served as a field representative for Assemblyman Mike Davis from 2006 to 2009. She also worked as a supervising legal office assistant at the Los Angeles County Office of the Public Defender from 1978 to 2003 and as a typist clerk for the Los Angeles County Department of Public Social Services from 1957 to 1968. Anderson served on the executive board of the Legacy Service Employees International Union Local 660/721 from 1995 to 2003. Her term expires January 1, 2019.
Charles Ching, Public Member
Charles Ching, aka Coco LaChine of West Hollywood, was appointed by the Speaker of the Assembly, Toni Atkins, in March 2016. Coco serves on the Transgender Advisory Board for the City of West Hollywood and is a member of various LGBT national organizations. Coco´s term expires January 1, 2019.
Polly Codorniz, Industry Member
Polly Codorniz of Colusa was appointed to the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology on March 4, 2015. Ms. Codorniz has been the co-owner of Changes Salon since 2013. Previously, she was the co-owner of Shear Class from 1986-2013. Ms. Codorniz is a member of the California Cosmetology Association. Her term expires January 1, 2019.
Jacquelyn Crabtree, Industry Member
Jacquelyn Crabtree of Sacramento has been appointed to the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology. Crabtree has been owner of four Aveda Salon and Spa Stores since 2005. She was manager and a hairstylist at Maidaís Touch Salon from 1999 to 2005 and a bookkeeper at Wild Carter and Oliver Law Firm from 1991 to 1999.
Joseph Federico, Industry Member
Mr. Joseph Federico has been the chief financial officer of the Federico Beauty Institute in Sacramento since 2009, where he was director of financial aid from 2006 to 2009 and has served on the board of directors since 2004. He has been a member of the American Association of Cosmetology Schools and the California Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators since 2006. His term expires January 1, 2019.
Richard Hedges, Public Member
Mr. Hedges was educated as a teacher in Kansas where he received his undergraduate degree in English and History at Kansas State University. Mr. Hedges received his Masterís Degree in American Urban History from San Francisco State University. He was employed as a union representative for 28 years by the United Food & Commercial Workers International Union. His term expires January 1, 2017.
Lisa Thong, Public Member
Lisa Thong has been reappointed to the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology. She has served on the Board since 2016. Ms. Thong has been the account supervisor of public relations at IW Group, Inc. since 2014. She was senior special assistant at the Office of State Controller John Chiang from 2012 to 2014 and a field representative at the Office of State Senator Jack Scott from 2006 to 2008. Thong is a board member of OCA-Asian Pacific American Advocates, Greater Los Angeles chapter. Her term expires January 1, 2021.
