Cosmetology Curriculum Review Advisory Task Force

The Board of Barbering and Cosmetology (Board) is establishing a Cosmetology Curriculum Review Advisory Task Force. Two Board Members will be present on the Task Force. In addition, the Board is seeking applicants from:

  • Community Colleges that offer the Cosmetology program
  • Private Board approved Cosmetology schools
  • Industry representatives
  • Board licensees (Cosmetologists, Estheticians, Manicurists)

The purpose of this Task Force is to review the 1600-hour training requirement for Cosmetologists. Findings from this Task Force will be included in a report that will be provided to the Assembly Committee on Business and Professions and the Senate Committee on Business, Professions, and Economic Development. (Pursuant to Section 7303.2 (a) of the California Business and Professions Code).

The Board recognizes that the Barbering and Cosmetology profession is constantly changing and we realize it is necessary to periodically review and update our processes. We are looking for Task Force participants that are in a position to provide more variety and a broader knowledge base for the Board.

Members serve on a voluntary basis and do not receive salary, benefits or travel reimbursement. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer appointee to the Board’s Cosmetology Curriculum Review Advisory Task Force, please complete an application.
