Lend Us Your Expertise!

Use your knowledge and expertise and become a Subject Matter Expert (SME). The Board of Barbering and Cosmetology is looking for qualified experts to assist in the development of licensing examinations. SMEs participate in workshops with fellow licensees from throughout the state to develop questions for the Board's licensing examinations.

Participation in these workshops is open to all licensees who hold a current valid license, work in the field for which they are licensed, and have no enforcement action against their license.

Workshops are typically held in Sacramento on Sundays and Mondays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. SMEs receive an honorarium of $100.00 per day. In addition, travel expenses and other out-of-pocket expenses (meals, parking, and incidentals) will be reimbursed at the government rate.
