Update 1/07/2021 Examinations

BOARD EXAMINATION SITE CLOSURES

As COVID-19 case rates and hospitalizations continue to rise, California health officials have announced a Regional Stay At Home Order that will be triggered if Intensive Care Unit capacity drops below 15% in a given region. In response to the order, most State offices will be closed to the public as of December 7, 2020. As a result, the Board regrets to announce that it will be cancelling all examinations until further notice.

The Board understands the importance of these examinations and apologizes for the inconvenience this has caused. The Board will be working to reschedule all candidates as timely as possible at no cost.

NEW BOARD  EXAMINATIONS

Due to the ongoing COVID crisis in California the implementation of the new NIC Practical exams will be postponed until July 1, 2021. To prepare for the exam updates, please visit our website at Information Regarding the Written and Practical Examinations - California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology where you can find the Candidate Information Bulletin for each license type. Schools

The Board applauds the Governor and CDPH for developing these guidelines for Institutions of Higher Education to open safely. The Board hopes that by adhering to the guidelines, schools will be able to provide a safe environment for their students, educators and clients and still help with flattening the COVID-19 curve. Regarding whether your school is permitted to reopen at this time, please contact the County your school is located in for guidance.
